StarTrek.com

From 2020 to 2022, I produced video content for StarTrek.com. For that period, the whole of the television canon was mine to play with. Here are some of my favorites.

All opinions are my own, and are wholly unassociated with Star Trek, ViacomCBS, et al. I speak for no one but me.

Original Pieces

“Computer, End Program” (2020)
We all thought we were living in the holodeck-gone-wrong during that fateful year.

“Welcome to Bozeman”
An in-universe production by my tiny contribution to the Star Trek pseudo-canon: the Extraterrestrial Tourism Council. Fun fact: by his inclusion in this video, Hank Green is technically part of Star Trek now.

Starfleet’s Hope for 2022
My last major piece for the site: a call for hope and optimism as we push forward into the future. A lovely one to go out on.

Tributes

Guinan: The Enterprise’s Secret Weapon

Guinan’s combination of calm, wit, and wisdom made her one of my favorites from as far back as I can remember.

The Heart of the Enterprise: Geordi La Forge

Geordi was my other favorite. I remember sitting with about 20-30 episodes of material in a pile and thinking, “How do I choose?”

Captain Kirk’s Wisest Quotes

Kirk was my dad’s favorite captain. Although he’d passed by the time I made this, he was in my thoughts when I did it. Kirk doesn’t get enough credit for how radically compassionate he was.

The Journey: Star Trek: Deep Space Nine

I was asked to put together a “beginnings and endings” video for DS9. I cried. A lot.

Benjamin Sisko: Mic Drop

Several of the Captains got their own videos, showcasing their best moments. I tried to balance the sincere and the badass. Sisko’s was the hardest, because he has so many good lines in so many flavors.

Kathryn Janeway: Mic Drop

Obviously, you have to include the coffee lines. But Ms. Mulgrew’s delivery of “as long as Voyager’s in one piece, we stay” is what makes Janeway special, in my eyes.

Carol Freeman: Mic Drop

Lower Decks is probably my favorite of the new Trek, which made cutting this to time that much harder.

Vic Fontaine: Deep Space Nine’s Most Famous Hologram

A surprisingly-touching piece about a little-known character on Deep Space Nine. Maybe I cry at everything (I do) but this one hit me.
